Remarkable Runs


A friend recently asked me what were my biggest take-aways and lessons from my recovery from the partial tear to my medial collateral ligament (MCL) from about 3 months ago. I spent the next day or so thinking about this and have come up with the following:

1. Patience
The biggest lesson. Every single day I turned up at the gym and watched the rest of the class doing all the movements I wanted to do (squats, cleans, deadlifts, snatches, wall balls, etc, etc) was mentally tough. All I wanted to do was join in. At the start it was a bit easier because my knee just physically wouldn’t let me but as I got stronger and felt less pain, I had to be careful not to try and do anything stupid or start something sooner than was safe.
